UK's Rwanda bill returns to House of Commons

Date: Apr 16, 2024

The controversial United Kingdom-Rwanda immigration bill is slated for additional examination in the upper house of Parliament this Tuesday.

The bill, championed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, is designed to authorise the relocation of unauthorised asylum seekers to Rwanda, marking a bold move in Britain's immigration policy.

Despite facing resistance, the House of Commons has dismissed all amendments proposed by the House of Lords.

The legislation, which endorses Rwanda as a secure destination for asylum seekers, is anticipated to be approved within the week.

However, it will not be enacted into law until consensus is reached on its final text between both the Commons and the Lords.
